This award is designed to celebrate the achievements of today’s college students. This scholarship promises $2,500 to a student who can reflect on connections between oral health, confidence, and professional or social success.
Students who want to apply for the “The Power of a Smile” Scholarship have until March 15, 2026, to create a video highlighting how dental health might influence a person’s life. The team at Sunshine State Dentistry wishes applicants the best of luck with their videos!
Application Requirements
Students interested in applying for the “The Power of a Smile” Scholarship need to meet the following qualifying criteria if they want the scholarship selection committee at Sunshine State Dentistry to consider their applications. We are accepting applications from:
- Must be an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at a U.S. trade school, college, or university
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must submit a completed application and original video addressing the prompt
- Must agree to all scholarship terms and conditions
To apply for the “The Power of a Smile” Scholarship, please complete the scholarship form on this page and craft a video on the scholarship topic provided below. Your video should be no more than three minutes long.
Once you complete your video, please upload it to YouTube as an unlisted video and share a link along with your application packet.
Scholarship Video Topic
A confident smile can open doors, boost self-esteem, and shape the way individuals interact with the world. This scholarship invites students to reflect on the connection between oral health and confidence, social experiences, or professional success.
Create a 2–3 minute video discussing how dental health influences confidence and life opportunities. You may focus on self-image, relationships, career advancement, or any other meaningful area where a healthy smile makes a difference.
How to Make a Video for a “The Power of a Smile” Scholarship Application
We encourage students applying for the “The Power of a Smile” Scholarship to record their videos in well-lit areas while using a tripod to hold their recording devices as still as possible. If a student doesn’t have access to a tripod, we encourage applicants to hold their recording device as still as possible or ask someone to hold their recording device for them.
Students should list their full name and the name of the “The Power of a Smile” Scholarship at the beginning or end of their videos. Students should also credit any sources they use to add to their scripts. If an applicant wants to add additional footage to their video, they should only use copyright-free content.
We encourage students to use media editing tools, like Adobe Creative Cloud, to improve the quality of their videos, but the scholarship selection committee will not award the scholarship based on a student’s editing ability. Instead, we consider the quality of a student’s script and their creativity when answering the scholarship question.
Sunshine State Dentistry AI Statement
Please do not use AI when creating your video for the “The Power of a Smile” Scholarship. To ensure fairness, videos must be 100% original. The use of AI to create scripts, modify voices, or generate actors is not permitted and will disqualify the application.
Application Deadline
You have until March 15, 2026, to complete your scholarship application form and submit it for Sunshine State Dentistry’s consideration. Unfortunately, the scholarship selection committee will not consider applications submitted after this deadline passes.
We encourage you to look over your application packet before finalizing your submission. If you submit an application for the “The Power of a Smile” Scholarship without all of the required materials, our team may not consider you for the scholarship award.
Please do not contact Sunshine State Dentistry after submitting your application. Our team cannot answer questions about the status of a student’s application or the application process.
Terms and Conditions
All applicants to this scholarship must meet the eligibility requirements as laid out on the scholarship application page, including:
- Applicant must be enrolled at a college, trade school, university, or graduate school.
- Applicant must be at least 18 years old at the time of enrollment.
- Applicant must have residency in the United States.
- Applicant must be in good academic standing.
- Applicant must submit some personal information, including name, contact information, and academic information.
- Applicant must author an original video on the scholarship topic provided.
Anyone who meets the following conditions is NOT eligible to apply:
- Employees or children of employees of Sunshine State Dentistry
- Past recipients of the “The Power of a Smile” Scholarship
- Applicants who are unable/unwilling to be interviewed by a representative of Sunshine State Dentistry, if they were to be awarded a scholarship.
- Applicants who submit the same video for multiple scholarships or for multiple years in a row

Sunshine State Dentistry reserves the right to verify eligibility and disqualify applicants who violate the rules. Decisions are final.
Content Ownership Clause
By submitting your application, you grant Sunshine State Dentistry permission to use your video or name for promotional purposes.
Selection and Award Notification Process
The scholarship selection committee reiterates that you must submit your application for the “The Power of a Smile” Scholarship before the March 15, 2026, deadline if you want the team to consider you for the $2,500 award. Your application form must be complete, and your video must address the scholarship topic.
After the submission deadline passes, the scholarship selection committee reserves between one and three months to select its winner. Age, race, religion, gender, national origin, familial status, or other protected classes will have no influence on the committee’s decision.
Please do not contact Sunshine State Dentistry for updates about your application. Once we choose a winner, we will work with them to send their winnings to their academic institution of choice. We cannot contact non-winning students at this time, but we will share a press release and blog post announcing the winner’s name on our website.
